Variation in coefficient of permeability of soil with the variation of temperature at prominent locations in India throughout a year

Amartya Sinha ()·Aditya Kumar Jha ()

Permeability is a significant property of soil. The coefficient of permeability influences the seepage of water through soil. This coefficient of permeability further depends on the viscosity of water, average particle size, and void ratio of the soil present at the location. Variation of these factors results in the variation of the coefficient of permeability which results in the seepage of water through the earthen structures like earthen dams. In hydraulic structures, seepage of water is one of the major cause for piping failure. This study aims to numerically establish the trend of variation of the coefficient of permeability with the variation of viscosity of water which is caused due to changes in temperature at various prominent locations in India. The locations selected are Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Jaipur, and Srinagar. These locations are selected to cover each type of geographical condition, climatic condition (mild and extreme), temperature range, and soil type. The ratio between maximum value of coefficient of permeablity to the minimum value of the same was calculated for each location. It was observed that among the chosen locations, Jaipur showed the maximum variation of permeability while Chennai had the minimum variation. The comparison established may provide an additional source of data for the efficient design of hydraulic structures to be constructed near the selected locations.

Effects of Air Pollutions on Surface Water Contamination

Md Shareeb ()·Srijan Saroj ()·Surya Pratap Singh ()·Sandeep Yadav ()·Mekhraj Kunwar Chhetri ()·Anuj Kumar Shara ()

The observe objectives to become aware of the important thing reasserts of air pollution withinside the greater noida location in numerous aspects, especially in phrases of calculating the Air Quality Index. CO, NO2, SO2, PM2.5, PM10, O3, NH3, and Pb are the fundamental air pollution taken into consideration withinside the improvement of the Air Quality Index. The AQI can be used to decide the extent of publicity someone is uncovered to on a day-by-day basis, in addition to what treatment plans may be utilised to relieve the publicity to greater Noida air pollutants. The facts gathered on contaminants and the ensuing Air Quality Index show that citizens withinside the Greater Noida location are uncovered to good sized ranges of air pollutants, which is likewise applicable to indoor air pleasant. We know that Pollution is a defined as the Air purifiers which could efficaciously decorate air pleasant may be useful on this situation. The AQI can be used to decide the extent of publicity someone is uncovered to on a day-by-day basis, in addition to what treatment plans may be utilised to relieve the publicity to indoor air pollutants. We know that if the particle size is less than 10 mm size it may be more harmful effect of human being. They can get deep into your lungs & blood streams. In our study to check the water quality test of local canal it is a part of ganga river we have selected One point (greater Noida knowledge park |||) of this canal and test the water or to compare the standard parameter.

Analysis of Pavement Design Using Fly Ash in Subgrade Soil

Rahul Kumar Meena ()·Prateek Thakran ()·pratik Sharma ()·Shubham Rana ()·S S ()·Anbukumar Anbukumar ()·Abhishek Prakash Paswan ()

Fly Ash is a type of industrial trash that is produced as a by-product of a thermal power plant. It's a non- reactive, inert particle that can float in the air for a few seconds to several months. There have been multiple researches conducted on the influence of fly ash on pavement construction. The objective of this study is to investigate how the load bearing capacity of soil changes when differing percentages of fly ash are added to the soil. The data was obtained from NTPC Badarpur. If the available soil is good in nature, we can easily create pavement; however, if the available soil is poor in nature, we can use Instead of an expensive route, fly ash can be considered as an alternative for improving soil condition. To begin, soil parameters were considered using different tests of soils, and then Atterberg Limits were estimated. On soil, a MPT (Modified Proctor Test) was used to determine the Optimum Moisture Content (OMC) and Maximum Dry Density (MDD). A sample is compacted at OMC for the CBR test, and the results are assessed in percentages of 8%, 10%, 12%, and 13% based on the dry weight of the soil. To determine the load bearing capability of soil, CBR test is used in both wet and dry situations so that the pavement can endure even the worst conditions and the thickness of the pavement can be determined.

Prediction of Compressive Strength of Geopolymer Concrete using Artificial Neural Network

Kamal Upreti ()·Manvendra Vera ()

- Geopolymer concrete could be an alternative to ordinary Portland cement concrete. It is sustainable, eco- friendly, durable, and economic concrete. Machine learning methods could an alternatives to determines strength without destruction tests conduction of the mix samples. In this study, to analyse the experimental investigation and prediction of compressive strength using artificial neural network. In experimental analysis, M2 mix got optimum point in the compressive strength among all mixes. ANN model is used to predict the compressive strength of geopolymer concrete. ANN model prediction has negligible errors. So, it can be stated that machine learning methods are capable to predicts the strength of concrete accurately.

Determining the Void Ratio in Hot-Mix Asphalt Pavements Using Different Methods According to EN 12697.

Shafik Jendia ()·Thaer Shomar ()

Inaccurate air void ratio based on erroneous bulk density can seriously affect the performance of the roadway and its quality. Therefore, several methods were improved to measure bulk density by using different techniques in the developed countries, while the Saturated Surface Dry (SSD) traditional method has been used in Gaza strip till present days. This study aims at providing a better understanding of the effect of the selected bulk density measurement method on the percentage of voids using four methods namely; Dimensional Method, Dry Method, Surface-Saturated Dry Method, and Paraffin Sealing Method. At Laboratory, sixty-nine specimens were prepared, thirty-three of them were prepared in the Marshal Design System in order to determine the optimum bitumen content of the three different mix types, and thirty-six of the specimens were taken from mixtures design in order to determine bulk density. Laboratory results showed that the SSD method is the best choice for measuring bulk density in dense and mastic mixtures. In addition, there are no differences between SSD and dry methods in mastic mix. The experimental study shows that the dimensional method is the only method suitable for the determination of bulk density (Gmb) in porous mix despite it always gives underestimated results for Gmb in all asphalt mixes. As a result, the dimensional method can be used as an indicator for the upper limit of voids, while the dry method can be used as an indicator to the lowest limit, regardless the type of mix. The study recommended to use new techniques to determine Gmb in open graded mixtures with more accurate methods rather than traditional ones.
